In a bid to position Ondo State as a leading agricultural hub, the state government has forged a strategic partnership with ZNT AgriHub. This collaboration, which also involves the Ondo State Agricultural Commodity Association (OSACA) and other key stakeholders, is set to revolutionize farming practices through mechanization.

The initiative aligns with the vision of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration to enhance food security while creating employment opportunities for young people. Speaking on the development, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture and Agribusiness, Wemimo Akinsola, revealed that the project would establish a structured agricultural model, cultivating over 2,000 hectares of farmland in each state senatorial district.

“This partnership represents a major milestone in achieving agricultural sustainability and economic development in Ondo State. By working with ZNT AgriHub, OSACA, and other stakeholders, we aim to equip farmers with modern skills and resources to improve productivity and ensure food security,” Akinsola stated.

He also reassured communities providing land for the project that they would receive adequate compensation, urging residents to support the initiative for its successful implementation.

ZNT AgriHub’s Chief Executive Officer, Zainab Suleiman, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the state’s agricultural transformation. She emphasized the role of technical expertise, research, and innovation in assisting local farmers with mechanized farming, which is essential for increasing yields and ensuring a steady food supply.

“Our approach involves working closely with farmers to maximize return on investment by leveraging tested agricultural models and cutting-edge technology. This initiative is in line with the state government’s agenda to empower farmers, boost productivity, and drive sustainable agricultural growth,” Suleiman explained.

Similarly, OSACA Chairman Chief Adejo Abiodun highlighted the project’s broader impact, stating that it would empower farmers across the state and significantly increase food production, reinforcing Ondo’s position in the agricultural sector.

With this partnership, Ondo State is taking a significant step towards modernizing its agricultural landscape, ensuring food security, and creating economic opportunities for its people.
